Oh, Pretty Woman

30 January 2014

"Pretty woman, walking down the street
Pretty woman, the kind I like to meet"

I remember back when I was young, whenever I hear the song Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison over the radio I always strut along to its beat and act like the woman being pertained to in the song. Crazy. Reminiscing those times literally makes me laugh out loud but back then I'd take it as a serious thing. I'll rummage my Mom's closet and look for an outfit that fancies me even if its twice my size and match it with 2-3 inch heels. Look at the mirror and pretend to be in a music video and whatnot. Those were the days... I can't believe its been so long!

I've mentioned earlier that I used to ransack my Mom's closet and quite frankly, I still do now! Anyway, the brown polka dot dress I'm wearing is from her. It was a gift from my Dad back when they're still dating. They told me that this dress was an "in" thing in the 90s and I'm glad my Mom was able to preserve it after so many years. I sure am going to do the same, maybe I can pass it down to the future generation as well.

Ironically, this is (almost) the same dress Julia Roberts wore in her movie Pretty Woman. If you haven't watched or clearly understood the message of the movie; it's a story about social standing, respect to others and change. It's a must watch for everyone!

I'm wearing:
Belt: Gap || Shades: Sunnies by Charlie || Shoes: Parisian || Dress: Mom's closet

The bottom line of this post is, everyone should take time and appreciate vintage fashion. Some people might find it "baduy" and too old fashioned but if you come to think about it, that's where real fashion comes from. The Attic Bazaar: Where Decades Collide an event organized by The Business Management Society is the perfect place to reminisce the good old days. Little by little the past is making a comeback. We see how old inspires new. The ingenuity of people drives them to recreate something from the past and make it entirely their own. Old fads are continually being revamped to suit the needs and tastes of society today. Iconic elements in fashion, food, and entertainment from various eras are being revived and reworked with modern touches to produce something original, yet still reminiscent of the past. Through this bazaar, we bring you the throwback of the century.

With its modern vintage theme, the Attic Bazaar is a place where people can revisit the past. With over a hundred concessionaires, one will truly be able to have a unique shopping experience. It’s definitely a treasure trove where you’ll be able to buy great finds. There will also be a series of events such as fashion shows, live performances, and many more that are in line with the “old meets new" concept.

The Attic Bazaar will be coming your way only at the SMX Convention Center Hall 3, this February 22 to 23, from 12nn to 10pm. Tickets are priced at low price of Php 50! So what are you waiting for? Join us as we rewrite history!
