ONE LOVELY DAY AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD GAME CAFÉ
25 October 2018
I always find hanging out in Cafés a more inviting option than going to the mall. There is just something about it that makes my heart flutter - and no, I don't mean palpitations from having too much caffeine. I'm talking about the ambient music, the refreshing environment and even the whir of a coffee machine. It's true what they say, finding the perfect place for work or meeting with friends is one of the simple pleasures of life. Last Saturday, my boyfriend and I discovered a lovely café nestled in the small neighborhood of Banawe, hence the name; Neighborhood Game Café.
They are located close to one of the busiest streets in the Metro so whether you're commuting or driving, Neighborhood Game Cafe isn't really hard to spot. Prior to our visit, I made my research because knowing my boyfriend he dislikes going to places with no parking. So just imagine my relief when I found out they offer free parking space for their customers. We haven't even gotten to the place but I'm already loving it. Hooray for that!
Sweet and Spicy Flavored Wings, Php 189.00
Bacon Carbonara, Php 219.00
Coffee Ribs, Php 239.00
S.E Fries, Php 139.00
After placing our orders, my boyfriend and I went straight to the shelf where all the board games are. We were ecstatic like kids in a candy shop! Their selection are top-notch in my opinion, and most of the board games I used to play when I was younger were there such as Monopoly, Snakes and Ladder, Uno and more. It was also nice to see other familiar games like Exploding Kittens, Resistance, Cards Against Humanity and Taboo.
Since my boyfriend and I wanted a bit of a challenge, we agreed on trying out a board game we've never played before. Mrs. Jenn suggested us to try Melissa and Doug's Suspend Family Game. If you're not familiar with the game, basically, the objective is to balance metal rods onto an elevated base. It may sound easy but don't be deceived because unlike Jenga, this Suspend Game is harder to complete. After playing the Suspend Game, we tried a more complex strategic board game called Splendor. It took us about 20 minutes to read and completely understand the rules on our own but once we get the hang of it, we had a blast! It was so fun my boyfriend recently purchased his own board.
After filling up our tummies, we had the chance to have a chit chat with Mrs. Jen who turned her hobbies with friends into a successful business. What really struck me the most from our conversation was when she said to; "THINK A MILLION TIMES" before venturing entrepreneurship and I believe this can also be applied to anything in general. One choice could either make or break us. So it is important to think, think, think before we decide because once it's done, we can't undo even the littlest of things.

LET YOUR IMAGINATION RUN WILD AT ART IN ISLAND
28 September 2018
With all the hustle and bustle going on around me, it's good to unwind a bit and just let loose. What better way to do that than to spend a day at Art In Island? The first time I heard about the interactive museum was through my friends who shared photos on social media and since then I always wanted to go. Well, talk about answered prayers because just last week I was invited by Wish 107.5 for a Bloggers Meet which comes with a free pass to Art In Island. Despite the indecisive weather, I still opted to attend because not only am I in dire need of a break but also, it occurred to me that my blog had been on its longest hiatus and I can't let that happen anymore.
I'm ecstatic to share with everyone that I'm officially a Wish 107.5 App Blogger. I don't want to spoil the details but you'll definitely know more about it in the coming months. Exciting times! Honestly, I'm very grateful for this opportunity because this somewhat paved a way for me to finally come back to blogging (for good, this time) and bond more with my blogger buddy, Kirs. I just realized that all along I've been waiting for a little push and here it is.
During the event, the CEO of 1K Solutions Inc. Mr. Noel Peralta Jr. talked us through our role as WishCard bloggers and this was also the part wherein we got to sign the Memorandum of Agreement. Afterwards, sumptuous snacks were served courtesy of Cafe' Minou. I honestly forgot what this was called but I heard it's their best-seller! Anyway, keep scrolling down to witness my most awaited part of the event.
✔ Art In Island is located at #175 15th Avenue, Brgy. Socorro, Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. It's a a 10-minute walk from Ayala-Cubao MRT Station but I suggest you hail a cab or book a Grab car instead which will cost around ₱60.00 to ₱100.00. Safety is our top priority!
✔ The museum opens every Tuesdays to Sundays (and holidays) from 9:30AM to 9:30PM. Last call for ticket selling is at 8:00PM.
✔ Entrance fee for adults usually cost ₱500.00 and ₱400.00 for students, PWDs and senior citizens. What about for the bulilits below 3ft, you ask? They're free of charge!
✔ Make sure to wear or bring socks because shoes and slippers are not allowed inside to avoid any damages in their artworks. No worries about where to leave your footwear because they have a counter dedicated for that.
✔ Bring extra energy! Like what I've mentioned earlier, it's the "Biggest 3D Interactive Museum in the Philippines" so expect to finish wandering around and taking pictures for roughly two hours or so.
This is the second time I visited Art In Island in a span of seven days, I had such a great time during the blogger's meet with Kirs that I decided to go for another visit and share this experience with my boyfriend. I also grabbed this opportunity to take lots and lots of pictures to share with everyone.
Art In Island will let your imagination run wild with their featured themes, which includes:

Art In Island will let your imagination run wild with their featured themes, which includes:
- Aquatic Adventures
- Journey to the Jungle
- Winter Wonderland
- Religious World of Art
- Dungeons of the Ancient Times
- Magical and Mysterious Walls
My personal favorite would have to be the Religious World of Art. By the way, once you're there don't forget to catch their amazing 5-minute light show that happens in one of their showrooms. It starts every 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
Art In Island is not your typical museum, it offers realistic artworks that allow you to take part by capturing pictures that stimulates your imagination. There's just something really special and endearing about it that keeps me from coming back. If you want to take a break from "reality", this is definitely the place to go. Now it's time to immerse yourself in a world of wonder... and of course, don't forget to share your experience with me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

OPM IS NOT DEAD (OO: ORIGINALS ONLY EVENT)
22 February 2018
BY MIGUEL HALECO | 5 MINUTE READ
OO is more than an event that celebrates the diversity of OPM. It is a movement that supports all genres of OPM, providing a venue and opportunities for artists to showcase their original material. Mainstream media and the establishments seldom celebrate the sub genres of our beautiful music. OO provides a supportive community for all of its artists and music. It is a passion project whose purpose is to bring back the love for OPM and encourage the Filipinos to be proud of the talents that we have here at home and bring out more of our unique sound to show to the world. Continue reading through this post and get to know the OO artists that proved OPM never died because it's just getting better!
Mikee Misalucha opened the show with a bang! Mikee is a singer- songwriter whose music incorporates the following genres: indie pop, folk, country, pop, alternative rock and contemporary R&B. Her versatility and musicality on stage definitely proved that she's more than just someone who shares the same bloodline as the Asia's Nightingale - Lani Misalucha. What I definitely adore about her is that she knows how to convey the appropriate emotions and connect well with her audience during performance. Get to know Mikee Misalucha by following her on Facebook and Instagram!
Guji Lorenzana is actively seen on Philippine television and movies, as well as, in the music industry. He actively DJ's in clubs, and as the lead singer of his own rock band - they perform at local bars, events and concert halls. Beyond his charming personality and undeniable talent, Guji also has compassion for underground artists in the Philippines. In fact, he is the mastermind behind the very successful OO: Originals Only event. What more could you ask for in an artist, right?
His first single “We Are” from his up and coming
album, is now available on Spotify, Apple
Music, and all major digital outlets worldwide. Follow Guji on Facebook and Instagram.
St. Wolf's performance really blew me away! The highlight of the night for me was when they sang their latest single - Papara. Their "Swabecore" music will really put a beat in your heart and make you move your feet! Don't let this band be the best music you never heard, follow KL Dela Cruz, Vince Lucero, Karlo Maglasang and Bob Sadural or collectively known as St. Wolf on Facebook and Instagram.
Leanne and Naara is a musical duo that
is dedicated to make music that
would offer a new experience to
listeners. They often harmonize and
explore other vocal elements within
the songs that they perform and
write.
The two got together as block mates and
had their first performance as a duo
during their freshman year. Both
finished Bachelor of Communication
Major in Performing Arts in
Assumption College. Beauty, brains and talent! Catch the lovely duo Leanne and Naara on Facebook and Instagram.
One Click Straight is a collective of like-minded
artists, molded by a brotherhood fuelled by an
undying passion for music. With a sound
almost described as a fusion of melodic pop,
indie rock, and synth pop, One Click Straight
drives listeners through the ups and downs of
emotion with their own brand of sound.
One Click Straight consists of Toffer Marquez, Joel
Cartera, Tim Marquez
and Sam Marquez. The band started with jam sessions until late
2013 when they began to write original material. Then in 2014, they began to release original
music and play gigs.
Mid 2016, the band released their debut EP
entitled "Nostalgic" and is now available
online. You can catch them online because their Facebook and Instagram are just One Click Straight away!
First noticed from the first Philippine Popular
Music Festival. Keiko writes music from the
heart and sings everyday.
There's nothing she can imagine loving more
than family, melodies, lyrics, hang outs, inspirations, love and dogs to name a few. According to Keiko, her music was influenced by Taylor Swift's honesty and wit,
Daughter's serenity, Nat King Cole's vibe,
Joan Jett's rebellion, and Barbie Almalbis'
melodies. If you want beautiful vocals and wholesome messages in a song, you should go and have a listen to Keiko's music! Catch her on Facebook and Instagram.

Aside from AJ Rafael's surprise appearance, one of the performers who concluded the night was Dane Hipolito. You might've already seen him doing covers of hit songs online, performing in different malls, bars, coffee shops or even at last year's Chalk Campus Tour series serenading his way to people's hearts. With his single "Hiwaga" out and an album on the works, Dane is well on his way to making his mark in the music industry. With his music, he especially takes pride in his dedication to help OPM thrive further. Although, I didn't get to watch Dane live since I had to leave by 12 midnight, I heard his performance was nearly perfect and everyone was all ears! I'm looking forward to finally watching him on stage soon. For now, let's all catch Dane Hipolito on Facebook and Instagram.
After tonight's event, seeing all these incredible artists pour their hearts in their music and live performance made me realize that OPM is already in the stage of rebirth. It's sad but true that many Filipinos are quick to judge when it comes to OPM instead of choosing to appreciate and support it. I personally believe Filipino-made music is great in its own way, we just have to give it a chance. I would like to thank the people behind OO: Originals Only for coming up with his kind of event that help Filipino artists grow and get the recognition they deserve.
Mabuhay ang OPM!
