A WALK IN THE PARK
7 September 2015
During High School, I was never the type to read books. I'd rather do outdoor activities than sit in complete silence and stare at the words. However, when I entered college, things have changed and I can barely stand to put a book down. I have grown fond of reading books that during my term break last August, I was able to finish 3 books in a span of 7 days. I love how reading completely takes my mind away from reality, at least for a short while, and to places and things I may have only imagined.
Ultimately, the thing about reading is that it gives you new information, it lets your imagination run wild and it makes you more creative. In fact, I've got the inspiration for this blog post from one of the books I've read during term break, called A Walk in the Park by Jill Mansell. It's a book about love, life and everything in between - pretty much something a girl like me would definitely enjoy reading. Anyway, relating it to my outfit for the day, I opted for a casual look that best represents Gigi, one of my favorite characters in the book. She's your typical school girl who can be sweet and downright frank at the same time. To pull off the "school girl" look I wore this red button-front skirt from Cherry's Closet and matched it with this off-the-shoulder top from Genevieve Gozum. Off-the-shoulder tops, as well as, button-front skirts have been popular on and off throughout fashion history. These are one of the stylish pieces that prove fashion is indeed revolving. To conclude today's casual look, I wore this ever fashionable and never going out of style Converse All Star shoes.

LOVE IS YOUR NAME
9 July 2015
... I'll dream of you until you come
Before I go on with whatever I want to talk about here, can I just say I AM IN LOVE with Steven Tyler's new song "Love Is Your Name", hence, the name of this blog post. I have so many songs I've curled up to and cried, but this one really speaks to me and it hit me right in the core of my heart. I literally feel like this song was made for me. I mean the music video was released during my birthday, what are the odds?! Anyway, I'm not really into talking about love or anything that relates to it here on the blog but it feels necessary sometimes, specially, if I know anyone going through the same situation as I am. So I apologize if this blog post ends up cheese-filled but hey, I haven't been posting for a while!
Love made me realize it is not always about finding the right person... it's about being the right person first. When you meet someone, you want to know all about them and get to know them. You want to know their likes, dislikes and values. You recognize when they are feeling good or when they are feeling bad. You come to respect, admire and appreciate them. You support and encourage them. You go out of your way to accommodate them. How awesome would it be if you could do this for yourself? Like what my Daddy always say, "be the right girl first and the right guy will come along" So, don't settle for less because of pressure from society and just because you're jaded with guys doesn't mean you will be forever.
After years of being single, I guess it's now safe to say that I no longer fear love. I've finally accepted that if the love is worth going through, then you must be prepared for the pain it comes with. I've realized that perhaps love is not found outside us, but is found within us. Also, love comes when you least expect it so be prepared when it happens. I never thought it will happen to me but I now find myself looking at the globe, tracing the distance between where "he is" and where I am. But of course, it's another story to tell.
I can't believe it's been 5 months since my last post, I've been extremely busy with thesis and other stuff that I had to sacrifice blogging for a while. Anyway, watch out for new blog posts every Sunday. After August, I'll try to post more often, maybe after every other day? Hope you learned something from our topic today :) do listen to Steven Tyler's new song while reading this post so it'll make more sense. Hahaha. That's it then, see you all next Sunday!

Forget love, let's now talk about my outfit for today... :)
Paisley prints or patterns made another big comeback this 2015 and we don't have to wonder why. You've seen celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie pull off paisley prints in a very interesting way. Surprisingly men have taken more to this trend as well (e.g. Harry 'my baby' Styles). The pattern has come a long way from its roots but it's not an easy piece to mix and match with. Before you pull off paisley print clothing, make sure that it will compliment your figure. I found this shorts in one of the tiangge stalls in Greenhills. Apparently, it's an over-run from Cotton On and I got it for only Php150.00, pretty neat right? Anyway, I was kind of torn with the top I'm supposed to wear in this look. My original plan was the blank fringe top I got from from Forever 21 but I don't want to play safe with my look so I've decided to wear this orange cropped top instead from Abercrombie and Fitch.
To top off my look, I wore this feathered necklace from Summer Soul Gypsy. Don't you love how it perfectly matches with my outfit today? They are, by the way, the newest addition to my blog-hemia family and you will be seeing more of their awesome handcrafted pieces in my next few posts. Stay tuned for that! GROWING UP
28 February 2015
Do you ever wish you don't have to grow up? or wish life had a pause button? Well, I do. I'm turning 21 in a few months and boy, it seems as though the years flew by! I still have a clear vision of my 7th birthday where I had a house party with homemade cakes, cute Disney princess-themed party supplies we bought last minute and friends I invited over. I remember wearing a red gown my Lola sewed herself, it really made me feel like a princess for a day even if it was just a simple gathering. Look at me now, posing for the camera all dressed up in one of my favorite places in the world - Hongkong. Who would have thought that 13 years after my 7th birthday I would check so much off my bucket list. I am very thankful but am still terrified of what is yet to come when I officially enter adulthood. We say that age is just a number, but when we think about it there is a big difference between the way we are at 16 and the values and opinions that we have, compared to how we are at 18.
There are times that I wish I didn't have to grow up especially when life hands me a difficult situation. Times like those I wish I could just curl up on my bed and forget about everything. But the thing is, life goes on. It gets better as soon as we get on with it and put our best foot forward. No matter how much we want to rewind time to correct our wrongs... we can't. This is why we should listen to our parents when they say, "don't do anything you will regret in the end" because it's true. We're not perfect human beings, we make mistakes but that's alright because it only means we have something to work on. Don't feel bad when you didn't enjoy your teen years, we can always enjoy the freedom that comes with wisdom which can be had only by being an adult.
"Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother's favorite songs
I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone"
I suggest you listen to Never Grow Up by my all-time favorite singer Taylor Swift, just so you could have the feel of this post. I may or may have not cried writing this post while listening to the song.. hehehe.

It was freezing cold in Hongkong and I loved it! That explains why I took Figure Skating before. Anyway, the point is, I'm was so ecstatic when I heard that it's winter in HK (minus the snow) and I will finally be able to wear the sweaters I had in my closet for yeaaaars. Some of them I only wore once in Sagada or Baguio but most of it I have never even tried before. I don't want to go on the details about my whole trip there now because I have 2 posts dedicated for that.
Anyway, this photo was taken few hours before our flight back to Manila so I had to go full-on with my #OOTD! Savoring the moment, they say! Basically, I tried experimenting again with my outfit by matching neutral colors to vibrant ones. Usually I play safe when it comes to my look but the thing about winter is that you can wear whatever you want as long as it keeps you warm and comfortable. Thus, ending up with this brown and pink combination. It didn't take a while for me to end up with this look, it came naturally and that's a good sign. What do you think?
I miss catching up with everyone on the blog! A lot of great things will be happening this March and I can't wait to share it with you all. Do visit Coley and I's blog if you got nothing else to do XXII DIARIES, we will revamp it soon :) Thank you for the 126,000 views. Let's keep it growing, yeah?
Stay Sassy (and spontaneous)!
